Chalk Point Kitchen: Soho’s Trendiest Nouvelle Cuisine For Summer
Boasting a brand new summer menu, our favorite farm-to-table eatery has done it again. Chalk Point Kitchen, the trendy Soho restaurant known for its all-natural multicultural cuisine and inspired cocktails has brought its A-game this season. Lucky for us, fine dining’s never tasted so fresh.
This past weekend we visited the charming dining spot – led by Matt Levine's IndieFORK – to get a taste of Chef Rebecca Weitzman’s latest creations. What did we find? Market fresh perfection. The dinner began with a sweet appetizer of Warm Westfield Aged Goat Cheese – made with fresh figs, rosemary-black pepper honey and a grilled baguette, it was all of our favorite flavors in one. We paired this first dish with an ice cold Lafayette Affair – a powerfully unique cocktail made with Herradura Silver Tequila, lime juice, ginger syrup, Mescal, burnt rosemary and chili powder, among other things. We then took a bite of the Grilled Watermelon Salad; a summer sensation, this sweet and savory dish was a delightful and refreshing surprise.
For our second course, we opted for two of our all time favorites: the Roasted Paffenroth Farms Carrots – made with feta cheese, black truffle and lemon – and the Roasted Local Baby Beets. Made with red watercress, horseradish, picked mustard and more, this fine vegetarian dish is a CPK must. Of course, in the hands of Chef Weitzman, even the most ordinary of vegetables can delight your tastebuds and blow your mind.
To end the meal, we delighted in some Island Creek Countneck Clams and a perfectly sweet Lower East Cider. This cozy house cocktail prepped with Woodford Reserve Bourbon, muddled apple, lemon juice, cinnamon syrup and ginger was in itself the definition of Chalk Point Kitchen: market fresh, cabin cozy, rich with taste and subtly refined.
