The Black Tux X Ovadia & Sons: Where Luxury Meets Street Style
In case you classy men haven’t heard, The Black Tux – the online platform for high-end tux rentals – has recently made its first partnership with luxury fashion brand Ovadia & Sons! A perfect combination of refined elegance and edgy street style, this collaborative collection is everything a man with style could possibly ask for. Bringing us the understated sophistication of New York fashion, this exciting collection features two new suit and tux styles, along with shirting and accessories ($120 to $215 to rent). Two full looks are available, yet you can of course mix and match accessories and pieces in order to best highlight your personal style.
Ovadia & Sons for The Black Tux is available today for pre-order on TheBlackTux.com and will be available this spring at the brand's new Chicago showroom inside The Tie Bar. Guys, what are you waiting for?
We had a short chat with the Black Tux founders – Andrew Blackmon and Patrick Coyne – in order to learn more about their recent collab, (and because we love them) here’s what happened:
How did this collaboration come about? Why did you choose Ovadia & Sons?
We were introduced to Ariel and Shimon of Ovadia & Sons about a year ago. We're all entrepreneurs and somewhat outsiders to the fashion industry, so we had a lot in common from the get go. We all got along really well and since both of our brands are committed to quality and design, and the idea of partnering came about naturally.
What are you most excited to share with your clients?
We're really excited to offer styles that highlight the New York aesthetic Ovadia & Sons is known for. These days people are attending three or four weddings in one season, and the new collection gives our customers even more options to chose from.
What pieces stand out to you and why?
We love the tan suit. It's our take on a really popular summer wedding outfit.
How do you think your collection will make tux renting more desirable?
We created The Black Tux to disrupt the men's suit/tux rental industry, which has become known for its ill-fitting, poor-quality suits and inconvenient, overpriced processes. We feel the addition of our Ovadia & Sons collection is just another way we are pushing the expectation of what a rental garment and rental experience can be.
Would you call this collection "affordable luxury"?
The suits from the Ovadia & Sons for The Black Tux collection are definitely luxurious, at a great price point. They're both 100% Italian, extra-fine Merino wool suits designed by one of our favorite brands -- they embody timeless American tailoring and modern sensibility, while still being accessible to guys who wouldn't necessarily be able to purchase their own Ovadia & Sons suit.
Who is the customer that you are targeting with this new collection?
Ovadia & Sons for The Black Tux is for the guy who appreciates quality and style, but doesn't necessarily want to purchase a tuxedo. We have the same high standards for craftsmanship and detail as our customers, and we think this collection shows that.
Can we expect more collaborations in the future?
We are definitely interested in exploring more partnerships in the future. We think our rentals can provide a platform for today's best designers, while giving customers access to labels we love.
