Haute Hipster Hotspot Alert: Sugar East
The newest martini haven owned by Merchants Hospitality, Sugar East is the fresh spot you need for a spring-nightlife refresh. Located in the trendiest strip of the city, this seductive underground bar serves its customers with a hint of modernist luxury and a dash of vintage elegance. The cocktails are strong, fresh and tropical, while the food – prepped by Chef Stephen Lyle – is an elevated selection of Latin specials including chimichurri potato crusts and pineapple-chorizo skewers.
Not only is this alluring lounge a breath of fresh air in the New York bar scene, it is also one of a kind, seeing as it is one of only seven venues in NYC that permits smoking inside! Talk about old-school.
When you visit – which FYI should be very soon – be sure to try out mixologist Jeremy Strawn's hottest mixes:
- Coconut (Havana Club rum, fernet, Absinthe, coconut juice, lime, burnt cinnamon)
- Beet (Hayman's Old Tom gin, Siete mezcal, fresh beet juice, rosemary, lime oil)
- Pistachio (Royal Elite Vodka, pistachio, Matcha, tea, lime, nutmeg)
