4 Ohio Music Festivals You Can't Miss This Summer

Festival season is upon us! Cue The Festival Song by PEZ, crack your windows (unless you're here in Columbus suffering through winter's personal attachment issues), and soak in the long awaited vitamin D as you scroll through this list of what's not to miss this summer in the Buckeye State:

1. Rock on The Range – Columbus, Ohio (May 20th - 22nd)

Our most anticipated festival kicks off the summer (with a sold out weekend)! Rock on the Range, I like to think of as our own personal Warped Tour sprinkled with a dash of the classics, combines a slew of early-mid 2000s rock/punk/metal bands in an environment that commemorates the vitality of the 7th grade badass still thriving in our hearts. This annual festival keeps its loyal frequenters coming back in nostalgic anticipation of who the time-honoured headliner will be.

2. Nelsonville Music Festival – Nelsonville, Ohio (June 2nd - 5th)

For those seeking a more personal experience and a varied musical pallet – Nelsonville Music Festival might be right up your alley. While I wouldn't call it quaint (being just a few miles outside of one of our nation's greatest party schools) the buzz surrounding NMF is hushed, like a best kept secret of the Midwest. You're in for something extraordinary with this year's one-of-a-kind headliners, various local art vendors, onsite camping, food, and beer garden all overlooking Ohio's endless rolling hills.

3. PromoWest Fest – Columbus, Ohio (July 15th – 17th)

Smack dab in the heart of downtown Columbus, concert promoter PromoWest Productions brings you PromoWest Fest! This all out banger provides a wide selection of mainstream music, summoning locals and visitors alike, while paying homage to its local talents. Located in Columbus's Arena District, you'll find yourself just a hop, skip, and jump away from all the hype that surrounds our capital. The legendary Park Street and its boozy offerings (don't miss the fire pit at Brothers!), the infamous Short North on High Street – over two miles lined with bars, restaurants, dance clubs, hookah lounges, and many more to add to the adventure!

2016 Lineup: Snoop Dogg, Walk The Moon, Modest Mouse, Mac Miller, J.Roddy Walston and The Business

4. Bunbury Music Festival – Cincinnati, Ohio (June 3rd – June 5th)

Located on the riverfront of the one and only Nasty 'Nati is Bunbury Music Festival. With Covington, Kentucky peering over the river and the gorgeous Cincinnati skyline cascaded behind you, it's almost impossible to survive this weekend without a biting sense of wanderlust that'll probably leave you without the experience of a few bands – it's totally worth it, I promise! After experiencing this one for myself last summer, I'd say you're in for something much more communal than it lets on. Oh and ditch the festival dress for a bikini top—you'll thank me after the unexpected torrential downpour.

2016 Lineup: Florence + The Machine, The Killers, Big Grams (Big Boi + Phantogram), Ice Cube, Of Monsters and Men
